Thanks for providing this comment box! Many people are lamenting the fact that their neighborhoods are being dominated by "skinny houses" that block the skyline and reduce greenspace. When previewing the home at: 320 NW 76th street, one woman approached me to say that construction was occuring next door to it (a skinny house, I think) and that no notice was posted by the city. She felt that the neighbors should have had input. My question to you is, within your group, is there one individual or individuals who serve as neighborhood land use watch dogs in Whittier? If so, would it then be worthwhile to post a comment box dedicated to connecting neighbors with the land use process? I would surely pass this info. on to interested neighbors!

Hi Mimi,

We don't have a land use watchdog, but we would be open to having one. As you point out, there are many residents who are concerned about the spread of skinny houses, and "cottage" housing, too. The increased density would change the character of the neighborhood.

Are you interested in acting as a watchdog for the community?
